Dunmanway CFR Group is being set up. This event is to let the community of Dunmanway know what we are about.
Dunmanway Community First Responders (CFR) are volunteers who are trained to attend specific types of emergency calls, such as cardiac arrest, choking, heart attack & stroke, within 10km of Dunmanway. Our aim is to reach a potential life-threatening emergency in the first vital minutes before the ambulance crew arrives.
Early first aid will help to stabilise a patient and provide the appropriate care including defibrillation, until the more highly skilled ambulance crew arrives on scene to take over the treatment. We are currently being established.CFR groups are nationwide. Some are linked to the National Ambulance Service (NAS). These linked groups are alerted to an emergency in their area and as they are community based, can provide medical assistance within minutes of a 112/999 call being received. Dunmanway CFR Group are aiming to be linked with NAS.
